Moreton Island, with its white sand and blue water is approx
1 hour boat ride or 1-2.5 hr barge trip from Scarborough or Whyte
Island. This is a favourite spot of URGQ for day trips and weekend
stays. The island is largely undeveloped and 4 wheel drive is required to
access the island. A range of accommodation is available from resort
at Tangalooma to houses and units at Kooringal, Cowan Cowan and Bulwer and
of course camping. Most of the island is declared National Park.
Cleveland is a
short distance from the
city of Brisbane. It is here that the ferry can be taken and
45
minutes later you are on North Stradbroke Island. Travelling to the
northernmost tip you will reach Point Lookout. An excellent spot to view
the whale migrations in the winter months. This is also the main departure
point for shag rock, flat rock, boat rock and the manta bommies.
Each dive site offers something different to the diver.
